Natural History Illustration Workshops

We are proud to present
Natural History Illustration Workshops
with
Dr Trevor Weekes and Christine Rockley
from the Natural History Illustration Unit
at The University of Newcastle.

at RSL Hall Murrurundi
Workshop 1: Saturday and Sunday. 14th-15th August.
Workshop 2: Saturday and Sunday. 21st-22nd August.
9am-4.00pm for both workshops

The workshops will focus on the flora and fauna of the Pages River and will be divided into two specific parts. It is essential that participants attend both weekends

Workshop 1: Weekend 1 will be a drawing workshop. The primary focus will be to produce working drawings from specimens, and finalizing the colour scheme and the composition in preparation for the larger final artwork to be executed on the second weekend.

Workshop 2: Weekend 2 will be executing the larger artwork based on the drawings and composition done in workshop 1. The finished artwork will be produced on 4 A1 sheets, joined together to form 1 large mixed media work approximately 1.8 metres in height by 1.2 in width.

The purpose of these workshops is to introduce a new and different way of looking at nature and producing art works. The workshop and content will focus on practices normally aligned to natural history Illustration and highlighting the bridge between Art and Science. This practice in itself is specialized and is one that would not be readily available to practicing artists or the general public.
